Anodizing, (or anodising), is an electrolytic passivation process that increases the thickness of the oxide layer on the surface of sheet aluminium (and other metals.) All our supply anodized aluminium is anodised to 25 microns, this hard wearing and maintenance free metal material is manufactured specifically for laser engraving.
Due to the nature of the anodising process minor variations in shade may occur from sheet to sheet.

Metallic materials can’t be laser cut using C02 laser machines. We can however cut standard sheet sizes down to any rectangular or square measurement specified.
The laser is optimized to remove the top anodised layer resulting in clean crisp greyish white engraving. Text engraves with exceptional clarity.
If you are supplying your own anodized aluminium you will need to provide us with a sample for us to test the correct laser settings. The thickness of the anodized layer can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer meaning we will need to make sure the laser is powerful enough to mark the surface successfully.
Because metal is such a hard material it isn’t possible to achieve any depths beyond a surface marking.
