When Sabina Causevic graduated from the prestigious Marangoni Institute Fashion School we laser engraved some lovely patterns into some high quality leather that she supplied to us, for her final piece. The leather engraving formed the overall base for the final garments.
Laser cutting is widely used in the fashion industry but fashion designers are also beginning to appreciate the value of laser engraving too. Rightly so! We always get excited when there’s some engraving projects going on in the studio. The laser marks your artwork onto the surface producing beautiful variations in colour.
One thing to bear in mind when laser engraving leather is the smell. Sounds funny, but it’s always worth giving the leather a clean afterwards as it can be pretty strong.
