Ceramic is an inorganic, non-metallic solid material prepared by the action of heat and subsequent cooling.
It’s not possible to laser cut ceramics unfortunately. We would recommend contacting a waterjet cutting service and supplying the material cut to size for engraving.
The results achieved when laser engraving ceramic differ depending on the type of ceramic you supply. In most cases the top glossy layer will be removed and the engraving will become grainy in appearance. There will be little or no change in contrast between the ceramic surface and the engraved area. We will not know how the laser reacts to your ceramic until we test it, meaning we can’t guarantee any specific outcome or result prior to testing. You will need to supply us with a portion of the material for us to establish material settings prior to running your job.
Engraving ceramic can produce dust particles that will need to be cleaned from the surface once you receive your job.
It usually isn’t possible to engrave particularly deep into ceramic. The hardness of the material makes this difficult to achieve.
